Abstract
In order to investigate how an aniseikonia affects contrast sensitivity, we have allowed an individual with emmetropia to wear contact lenses on the dominant eye to induce anisometropia, corrected the vision using spectacle lenses and then practiced stereo acuity divided by the rate of an induced aniseikonia. We have measured the contrast sensitivity with VCTS(vistech consultant INC, USA) test under the condition of distance vision, near vision, daylight illumination and
scotopic illumination.
As a result of stereo acuity examination, the study showed that an aniseikonia of 7-9% also does not reveal a significant difference from an aniseikonia of 0%. The result of examination of contrast sensitivity using VCTS showed that the contrast sensitivity in spatial frequency decreased under the condition of an aniseikonia of 7-9% and the difference of the contrast sensitivity was considerably noticeable between distance vision and near vision.
From these results, it was analyzed that an aniseikonia of 7-9% are factors that can decrease the contrast sensitivity caused by binocular visions.
